  16. Contains the core RAM Charger software. RAM Charger works by dynamically allocating memory to open applciation, as they need it, instead of holding it in larger, fixed blocks, the way your Mac normally would. For example, all the extra memory you will need when you finally print your presentation doesn't have to sit idle when you're interrupted and need to popen your calendar quickly. And you no longer have to waste the unused hundreds of kilobytes of memory normally allocated to your fax or phone manager application during all those hours it is just sitting there waiting for a call to come in.

  25. Once again, thanks to Connectix Corp. for this extension that can double or even triple the virtual capacity of your RAM, getting your Macintosh to act almost exactly as it would if you actually added an equivalent amount of physical RAM. However, you still have the physical, installed RAM as a base. Speed decrements may occur at times (especially as you approach the limits of available memory), but they are usually minor. Also note that RAM Doubler works best when you use it to open more programs at once, rather than to assign increasing amounts of memory to a single program. Virtual Memory has to be turned off in order to use RAM Doubler.

  49. Record Button Extension
  50. Permits the recording of sound via the Adjustable Keyboard. With this extension installed, pressing the Record button on the Apple Adjustable Keyboard (the circular button in the lower right corner with the microphone icon next to it) will start and stop the recording of sound. To use it, you must first open the Sound control panel, and click on the "Add..." button. If a Macintosh does not have this functionality in ROM, the Record Button extension provides it. For example, the functionality of the Record Button was incorporated into the ROMs on AV series and Power Macintosh systems.
